Description

What can be gleaned of the culture of Yamatai is that they were once subject to the Empire of Khitai. A prophecy rose among the people of a particular province that a goddess would lead them to the 'Land of the Dawn'.

Eventually, a female shaman known as Himiko led a rebellion against the local Khitan lords. The rebellion was defeated, but a remnant escaped - leading a pursuing army through the murky depths of the Swamps of the Dead.

The pursuing army was destroyed, and the remaining band of rebels took ship, sailing towards the rising sun. Two days into their journey, they found a long strip of land and they declared the prophecy fulfilled.

They had found their new home.
