Experience is a measure of progression of Characters in Conan Exiles.

Earning sufficient experience allows a character to gain a level and earn both Attribute points and Knowledge Points.

Earning Experience[]

Experience is earned in the following ways:

Slaying Enemies[]

Each creature is worth a set amount of experience when killed, as are thralls. The set amount is modified by the server settings:

Solo Experience = (server setting 'Player XP Kill Multiplier' * server setting 'Player XP Rate Multiplier') * creature set amount 1

If more than one character hits a creature, each character involved receives experience according to the following formula:

Shared Experience = (server setting 'Player XP Kill Multiplier' * server setting 'Player XP Rate Multiplier') * (1 + (number of characters involved * 0.25)) / (number of characters involved) * creature set amount 1

Followers count as players when calculating shared experience.

1 See the creatures page for the amount of experience gained for each creature.

Exploring[]

While exploring locations across the map, players gain an increasing amount of experience based on how many locations they have already discovered.

Crafting[]

Experience is gained from crafting items. Each of the crafted items gives a certain amount of experience to the character who crafted it, or if crafted on a workbench, to the character who queued it at the workbench. The set amount is modified by the server setting 'Player XP Craft Multiplier'.

Gathering/Harvesting[]

Each gathered item awards 1 point of experience:

  • Picking up a stone from the ground yields 1xp.
  • Mining 3 stone from a deposit yields 3xp.
  • Mining 10 ironstone yields 10xp.

This means that harvesting with higher tier tools will gain more experience due to yielding more resources. The set amount is modified by the server setting 'Player XP Harvest Multiplier'.

The Exiles Journey[]

Completing steps of The Exiles Journey awards an amount of experience based on the specific journey steps completed. The experience awards can be very significant early in the game, but become negligible at later levels.

Passive XP gain[]

Whilst online, characters gain 10 experience every 10 seconds.

The following table shows the amount of experience required to gain each level and the difference between each level.

Follower Experience[]

A follower will only gain experience while following a player. Unlike players, they start at level 0 instead of 1 and have a level cap of 20. They gain perks at levels 10, 15, and 20. Followers only gain experience from killing creatures, except for mounts who also gain experience from being ridden.

Followers gain experience according to the following formula regardless of how many characters are involved.

Follower Experience = server XP Kill setting * Creature set amount

Followers come in three tiers of training difficulty. Fast difficulty requires half the experience of Normal, and Slow requires 50% more than Normal, or three times Fast.

Follower difficulties[]

All followers of the same type will always have the same difficulty. Training difficulty is tied to a follower's species (for pets) or faction (for thralls). For instance, all spiders will be equal, and all Black Hand will be equal, regardless of the relative quality of the specific individual compared to another of the same species/faction.
