As masters of the slave trade, the strength and backbone of the Khari empire was the vast body of thralls captured from across the known world.
While many of the slave legions were used as expendable fodder, those demonstrating exceptional dedication or performance in the field could earn a kind of freedom with promotion to the regular infantry ranks. Historians believe that a cadre of these 'free-men soldiers,' possibly even Lemurian exiles, were involved with sparking the rebellion that led to the eventual decline and dissolution of the Khari empire.
The centerpiece of the Khari soldier's kit is an intricately woven latticework of scale mail framed by a series of interlocking shoulder plates that offer the maximum protection without sacrificing mobility.
