Cuisine![]

The Cuisine! feature allows players to see the food they place in special dishes and containers. To use Serving Dishes:

  1. Craft any Serving dish (see Cuisine! items below) and place it
  2. Interact with the dish to open its inventory and place a food or drink item inside. A visual effect for that dish or drink will appear in the dish
  3. NOTE: food and drinks are incorporated into Cuisine! over time as they are added to the game. Some newer food and drink items may not yet have visuals associated with them

Additionally, Serving Kegs give hosts the ability to serve drinks to guests:

  1. Craft either a Large or Small Serving Keg (see Cuisine! items below) and place it
  2. Owners: Interact with the serving keg to open its inventory. Placing a drink inside will lock the keg so that it only accepts that drink item
  3. Guests: Interact with the Serving Keg to remove one drink item from the Serving Keg. The drink item will be placed on your quickbar inventory if there is space, or your backpack inventory if not
  4. To place a different type of drink in a Serving Keg, it must first be emptied, and then reset using the radial menu

Emberlight Core Feature Settings

Configurability[]

Several of Emberlight's core features can be modified or given additional functionality using the options in the Core features tab of the Mod Settings menu.

Admins can access the Core features settings via the radial menu of most Emberlight placeables, or by using the "/emberlight config" Pippi command.

The following settings are available:

  • Players can pick up placeables: Allows all players to pick up all placeables. This has no restrictions but does not apply to building pieces such as walls and foundations
  • Serving dishes can be locked: Cuisine! dishes and serving kegs can be locked by their owners, preventing other players from accessing them
  • Serving dishes preserve food items: Cuisine! plates, bowls and cups will behave like base game preservation boxes, halting the decay timer on any items stored inside of them
  • Coin Stacks & Bar Stacks can be locked: Allows players to lock these items, preventing other players from accessing them. This setting may require a server restart before it takes effect

Chroma[]

Chroma allowed players to tint the colors of buildings in the game, using a custom interface.

Emberlight chroma

The Paint GUI of the Chroma feature

Basic Use[]

To use the Chroma feature:

  • Use the radial menu on any building (not decorative placeables). Use the Paint option to tint the building
  • Building Bases are tinted by tier (Sandstone, Black Ice, etc.), not by individual building piece
  • Depending on server settings put in place by admins, users can paint individual tint channels or apply themes, which tint an entire building tier
  • Some modded building sets can be tinted using Chroma. However, most official DLC building sets are not set up to be tinted, and are currently not supported
Building Bases vs. Building Pieces[]

Due to the way Conan Exiles manages buildings, all building pieces are combined into single actors called a Building Base. As more building pieces are added to a Building Base, no new Building Bases are created, even if the layout visually suggests multiple structures. This is important to note because even if the connecting points of a building base are destroyed, creating the appearance of multiple structures, the underlying Building Base will be treated as a single entity by Chroma.

The Mixer Menu[]

Additional options for players and admins are available in the Mixer Menu, which is also accessed via the radial menu of a Building Base.

Themes[]

A theme is a set of colors that apply to a single tier of a building. An example of a Theme is Carmine Sandstone.

Themes are part of one of three collections, depending on who created them and where they are stored: Basic Themes, Special Themes, and Local Themes (see below). Themes can be accessed and edited via the Mixer menu, which can be opened via the radial menu from any Building Base.

Using Quick Paint to Apply Themes[]

Players can apply multiple themes to a Building Base at once to save time:

  1. Navigate to the Select Themes page (right), click on themes to move them to the Active Themes list, then click the Save Active Themes button.
  2. Use the radial menu on a Building Base and click the Quick Paint button.
  3. All of your active themes will be applied to that Building Base
Basic Themes[]

Basic Themes are part of the Emberlight mod and are available to players by default. Admins can disallow players from having access to these themes. Chroma has the following Basic themes, with more planned to be added later:

Bleached (white): Bleached Sandstone, Bleached Stonebrick, Bleached Reinforced Stone

Weald (gray): Weald Sandstone, Weald Stonebrick, Weald Reinforced Stone

Special Themes[]

Special Themes are part of the Emberlight mod and are not available to players by default. Admins can allow players access to these themes if they choose. Chroma has the following Special themes, with more planned to be added later:

Carmine (red): Carmine Sandstone, Carmine Stonebrick, Carmine Reinforced Stone

Chroma mod settings 2

Chroma's Feature Settings

Charred (black): Charred Sandstone, Charred Stonebrick, Charred Reinforced Stone, Charred Black Ice

Local Themes[]

Local Themes are themes created by a player and saved locally to their Conan Exiles directory. Any player can create a theme in the Mixer’s Manage Themes screen. However, permission must be granted by admins for players to paint using their own Local themes. Server Themes are themes created by a player and saved to the Server. Only admins can save themes to the server. Additionally, admins can make any server theme accessible only to Admins

Managing and Editing Themes[]

Players can create new themes, as well as edit existing themes, in the Manage Themes page of the Mixer Menu (right).

Configurability[]

In the Mixer Menu, Admins can use the Mod Settings page to configure Chroma for their server:

  • Enable Chroma: This option completely disables Chroma, preventing any of its scripts from running. It requires a restart to take effect when enabling or disabling
  • Players Can Use Basic Themes: Allows players to use basic Chroma themes such as Weald
  • Players Can Use Special Themes: Allows players to use Special Themes such as Carmine
  • Players Can Use Local Themes: Allows players to use themes that they have created and saved locally
  • Players Can Paint Color by Color: Allows players to tint their Building Bases using individual tint channels

Homestead[]

The Homestead feature group encompasses all Horticulture and Animal Husbandry game mechanics and items.

Basics[]

Changes to Base Game Farming[]

Emberlight makes the following modifications to growing and planting in the base game:

  • Modifies base game planters to utilize Ranch Water for growing basic and Lotus plants
  • Modifies the compost heap to use the following recipe for producing compost: Plant Fiber + Dry Plant Material + Ranch Water
  • Cactus wine is now crafted from cacti. To craft Cactus Wine, harvest Prickly Pears from wild cacti and place them in the Fluid Press. Ferment the resulting Cactus Pulp to create Cactus Wine
Ranch Water[]

The crafting pipelines of both Horticulture and Animal Husbandry revolve around the use of the Ranch Water item. To obtain and use Ranch Water:

  1. Purchase the Homesteading feat and craft a Water Bucket (see Ranch Water Info below)
  2. Fill a water bucket at any water source, just as you would a water skin. This will give the Water bucket 100 charges
  3. Place a full (or partially full) Water Bucket into any Homestead crafting machine (such as a planter or animal pen) by dropping it into that machine's inventory. This will generate a number of Ranch Water items equal to the amount of charges on the Water bucket

Server Performance[]
Chroma homestead Settings 2

The Homestead Feature Settings page

Homestead crafting stations use a timestamp-based system to determine their output, rather than relying on ticks. This results in almost no overhead for servers, but requires players to pay special attention when growing plants and caring for animals to ensure the growing and feeding processes are starting and stopping correctly. See the instructions below for more information.

Configurability[]

Server admins can scale the output of all Homestead crafting stations using an in-game configuration UI. While in Admin mode, use the radial menu on any Homestead crafting station and select Homestead Settings.

The following Homestead settings can be configured:

  • Animal Husbandry Output Delay: Lowering this setting will decrease the time between output drops, increasing overall output. Raising it will increase the time, reducing overall output
  • Animal Husbandry Output Multiplier. Lowering this setting will decrease the number of items produced with each output drop, lowering overall output. Raising it will increase the number of items produced, increasing overall output
  • Horticulture Output Delay. Lowering this setting will decrease the time between output drops, increasing overall output. Raising it will increase the time, reducing overall output
  • Horticulture Output Multiplier. Lowering this setting will decrease the number of items produced with each output drop, lowering overall output. Raising it will increase the number of items produced, increasing overall output

Horticulture[]

Items and systems in Emberlight related to farming and growing plants are generally grouped into the Horticulture category. The primary crafting station used to create Horticulture items is the Horticulturist's Bench, which requires the Horticulture Novice feat to hand-craft.

Growing with Horticulture[]

Growing Horticulture Plants:

  1. Purchase the Novice Horticulturist knowledge feat and build a Horticulturist's Bench
  2. Build any Emberlight Garden Box, Garden Wedge, Planter, Mushroom Box or Water Planter
  3. Open the inventory of the planter you placed, and place the required growing materials in it (see Horticulture Growing Recipes table below)
  4. Open the Radial Menu of the planter and select Grow. If the planter has the required ingredients, you will see a visual on the planter indicative of the type of plant being grown
Planters[]

Emberlight planters are similar to the base game Planter, in that they can be placed anywhere the player has space, and are used to grow plants. Planters (as well as Gardens) produce seeds in addition to their normal output, which is equivalent to the base game planters' values.

Gardens[]

Emberlight Garden Boxes and Garden Wedges function identically to Emberlight Planters, but produce more output and are placed by snapping to existing building pieces.

Herbalist Thralls[]

When Emberlight is installed on a server, special Herbalist NPCs have a chance to spawn anywhere an Alchemist NPC can spawn. If knocked unconscious and broken on a Wheel of Pain, they become Herbalist thralls. Herbalist thralls can be used in a Horticulturist's Bench to improve crafting and generate Ranch Water if the station's inventory also contains a Water Bucket.

Wine Maker[]

The Wine Maker feat gives players access to the Arbor, which can grow Vines and Grapes. To learn the Wine Maker feat, find the Vintner's Journal by hunting Exile NPCs in the Exiled Lands. These are the basic humanoids who inhabit the Southern, early game portion of the Exiled Lands map. Opening the Vintner's Journal will provide you with the feat as well as grape seeds to grow in the Arbor.

Obtaining and using the Arbor:

  1. Once you have the Wine Maker feat, you can build an Arbor (along with trellises and decorative ivy) at the Horticulturist's Bench. Place it in the world
  2. The arbor can be used to grow vines as well as grapes, depending on the ingredients placed inside its inventory (see Arbor Growing Recipes below)
  3. Open the Radial Menu of the Arbor and select Grow. If the Arbor has the required ingredients, you will see a visual on the planter indicative of the type of plant being grown
  4. If you are growing vines, you can use the radial menu to change the appearance of the Arbor.

  • Build Trellises, Ivy and Decorative Arbors at the Horticulturist's Bench
  • Once placed, interact with these objects and use the user interface to customize their appearance (see Decorative Plants, below)

Barista[]

Players using the Emberlight mod can craft coffee using materials and crafting stations found in the base game:

  1. Slay Darfari Cannibal NPCs and loot the Tale of the Goat Herder item, which has a small chance to drop from any Darfari Cannibal
  2. Use the item in your inventory to learn the Barista knowledge feat
  3. Obtain Desert Berry-Bush Seeds and place them in a Dryer. Doing this will craft Dry Roasted Coffee Beans
  4. Place the Dry Roasted Coffee Beans in a Grinder. Doing this will craft Ground Roasted Coffee

These weapons occupy both hands and use a custom moveset. They forgo a standard light attack chain, instead arming the wielder with an aggressive forward leap. Additionally, the offhand

ability is a shout which gives the player the Challenger buff. If struck while under the effect of Challenger, the player is granted Furious. Furious gives the player +2 to their Strength attribute per stack, and gains an additional stack each time they are struck.

Legendary Weapons[]

Emberlight's Legendary weapons are roughly equivalent to base game Legendary weapons in terms of their attributes (damage, durability, etc.). With some exceptions noted below, they can be found in the Legendary item chests guarded by world bosses in the Exiled Lands, and in Vaults on the Isle of Siptah.

Vanity[]

Emberlight's Vanity features are accessed through the Vanity Table, Thrall Vanity Table and Vanity Hand Mirror items. These are available via the Vanity feat, and the items themselves can be crafted at an Artisan's Workbench.

Emberlight vanity gui

The Player Vanity menu

The Player Vanity[]

Using the Vanity Table or Vanity Hand Mirror, players can adjust the following base game visuals of their character. These changes require the Apply Changes button to be clicked before they will take effect:

  • Face warpaint, body warpaint, hand warpaint & warpaint color
  • Hairline, hair style & hair color
  • Eye makeup & eye makeup color
  • Eyebrow style & eyebrow color
  • Beard style, beard color & stubble

The following additional visuals can be adjusted. These changes are applied immediately:

  • Body oil
  • Body hair
  • Alternate softer faces
Emberlight thrall vanity

The Thrall Vanity menu

The Thrall Vanity[]

Players can use the Thrall Vanity Table to adjust the look of their crafting thralls. To adjust the look of your combat and entertainer thralls, use the radial menu instead. The following changes can be made to thralls:

  • Face warpaint, body warpaint, hand warpaint & warpaint color
  • Hairline, hair style and hair color
  • Eye makeup and eye makeup color
  • Eyebrow style and eyebrow color
  • Beard style, beard color & stubble
  • Cosmetic armor and clothing

NOTE: To preserve visual progression for combat thralls, only crafter thralls can be given cosmetic armor and clothing. Thralls that can be placed and given equipment cannot have their attire altered in this way.

Pippi Commands[]

Emberlight utilizes Pippi's chat system API to provide some functionality.

Users can type

/emberlight settings <feature group> OR /emberlight config <feature group>

to bring up Emberlight's Mod Settings menu, where <feature group> can be "core", "homestead", "chroma" or "vanity" to go directly to that feature group's page in the GUI. Entering no parameter will take you to the Core settings page.

Compatibility[]

Base Game Assets Modified Directly[]

The following assets are overwritten completely by Emberlight. This means that there will likely be a conflict with other mods which also overwrite them. Note that these conflicts are very rarely game-breaking, but they may cause mod features to work incorrectly, or not work at all.

Human Materials and Textures[]

These assets have been modified to allow certain customization options in the Vanity to work properly. NOTE: If these assets are overwritten by another mod, the stubble layer cannot be modified by the vanity and body oil cannot be applied.

Placeable Blueprints[]

These changes allow Emberlight's farming system to work in the base game's planters and compost heaps, so that farming is consistent (e.g. the base game planters will produce seeds) between the base game and Emberlight. NOTE: If another mod overwrites these changes, only base game farming placeables will be affected. Emberlight planters and gardens will work as described in the Homestead Quickstart guide.

  • BP_PL_Crafting_Compost.uasset
  • BP_PL_Crafting_Planter.uasset

Other Assets[]

Emberlight uses a shared E_Weapon_ComboType enum asset which the modding community keeps continually updated. NOTE: If a mod edits this asset but is not part of the circle of modders who share the updated version of this asset, it will cause weapons to behave strangely and could cause serious balance issues on your server.

  • E_Weapon_ComboType.uasset

Base Game Assets Modified Via Modcontroller[]

The following game assets are modified in such a way that they add to, rather than overwrite, base game assets. This makes them largely compatible with other mods.

  • Actor Components added at runtime
