In Aquilonia, scribing is a common profession among wealthy merchant's sons and lesser noblemen, but the perils of reading and writing are often not discussed.
There are, after all, certain texts that corrupt the mind with their descriptions of beings summoned from the outer dark and ancient rituals that soaked the altars of the elder gods.
Yes some of us have read too deeply, sitting at our writing desks. How can we escape the image of that eye, that horrible rimless eye that sees all of what we are and dismisses us as a single mote of dust in the universe that is its consciousness?
How can we bear to keep our eyes when we contemplate that such a perfect orb exists in the cosmos, knowing and seeing all?
